CHRISTMAS MESSAGE 2010

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
Luke 2:11

(Click the title for the complete story) The world today is much like the world during the time that Jesus born. Sure, there’s more technology today and better medicine, more stores and ways to buy things. But in both times, people are hurting. They’re looking for something to cure the pain and ache they feel everyday.

Those living 2000 years ago had no idea that THE Saviour had come for them. Except for the angels in the sky, there was no triumph or carolers breaking out their four-part harmony of “We Wish You A Merry Christmas.” Soon many realized that they had the chance that millions have been able to have since that day – that day the Saviour came as a baby so he could become the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.

Today, most people on earth know the name Jesus but many are still searching for that cure to heal their hurt. They’ve been using the better technology and over-medicating, they buy buy buy until they can no longer afford to. But nothing changes. No triumph or excitement breaks through. They have not yet realized that it’s Jesus they need.

My mind turned back to that old chorus with the last phrase “and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.” That star that was shining above the new-born Messiah can shine today inside of you. Maybe it already is. Take a day, or a month, or a year and let the things of this earth grow dim. Let the light of our Saviour fill the darkness and cure the hurt. He will if you let Him. That’s why Jesus came down to us. That is Christmas.

From all of us with Maack Ministries, let me wish you a very Merry Christmas this year! Shine His light so that the hurt can grow dim and eternal life can begin!
